This beautiful gardenia plant has ivory white flowers, with a pleasant, but not overbearing scent. The leaves are a deep glossy green. Gardenias can grow up to eight feet wide, and five feet high. This is a versatile plant, as it can be indoors or outdoors, and it loves partial sunlight. Each gift plant is beautifully packaged in a 100% natural jute bag with an accompanying hand-tied ribbon. This plant will serve as a memorial to honor your special pet.

Care Information

General Care

Watering: Gardenias need 1 inch of water/rain each week. Keep the soil constantly damp but not soggy Sun: Full sun to light shade. Pruning: Prune the gardenia bush after flowering has ceased to keep the plant in good condition.

Planting Guidelines

Fall or spring is the most suitable time for planting the gardenia bush. Select a spot with full sun to light shade and where the soil is acidic. Dig a hole that is twice as wide than the root ball. Place fresh soil at the bottom of the hole and place gardenia in so the top of the root ball is even with the soil surface. Fill in soil and water deeply. You can apply a 2inch layer of mulch to help retain moisture.

Winter Care

Gardenias are cold sensitive and may die during severe winters. You can protect gardenias in winter by covering them with a blanket during brief cold periods. In areas with heavy snow you can use a cardboard box to cover the shrub to avoid bending of branches with snow.

Potting & Container

Gardenias can be successfully grown in containers or treated as indoor plants. If growing a gardenia indoors insure, they receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. High humidity is essential to indoor gardenia care. Keep in a 1 gallon for first 6 months then gradually increase to a 3 gallon.

I was gifted a gardenia plant from a friend after the loss of my dog. I was so touched by the beautiful plant and engraved plaque. I love the idea of having a plant in my garden to remember my beloved dog, Bam Bam. Recently my mother's cat passed away. I decided to gift her a Seeds Of Life Gardenia with a engraved plaque as well. She was also very touched and grateful. Such beautifully packaged gift that will be a reminder of a great love for years to come. I only wish the plant was ready to bloom like the description states- both plants were not ready to bloom. Each of the Gardenia's in our crop are very healthy, but yet unique. They have been very well taken care of in our nursery, to ensure you receive the best quality. The plants may not have any current blooms, but I am very confident they will begin to flourish and bloom as they become a little more mature, we do recommend Miracle Grow potting soil and food for at least for the first year after planting, this too to will encourage blooms.
