Watering: Gardenias need 1 inch of water/rain each week. Keep the soil constantly damp but not soggy Sun: Full sun to light shade. Pruning: Prune the gardenia bush after flowering has ceased to keep the plant in good condition.

Planting Guidelines
Fall or spring is the most suitable time for planting the gardenia bush. Select a spot with full sun to light shade and where the soil is acidic. Dig a hole that is twice as wide than the root ball. Place fresh soil at the bottom of the hole and place gardenia in so the top of the root ball is even with the soil surface. Fill in soil and water deeply. You can apply a 2inch layer of mulch to help retain moisture.

Gardenias are cold sensitive and may die during severe winters. You can protect gardenias in winter by covering them with a blanket during brief cold periods. In areas with heavy snow you can use a cardboard box to cover the shrub to avoid bending of branches with snow.

Gardenias can be successfully grown in containers or treated as indoor plants. If growing a gardenia indoors insure, they receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. High humidity is essential to indoor gardenia care. Keep in a 1 gallon for first 6 months then gradually increase to a 3 gallon.

Very dear friends sent us this gardenia plant in honor of our beloved dog who passed away in November. It was wrapped beautifully and arrived in perfect condition. We took great care to plant it in a pot outside, and while it has been a little tricky figuring out it’s watering/sunlight needs in the dry heat of Los Angeles, we were just rewarded with stunning blooms. They burst forth almost 6 months to the day of his passing…and it seemed as if our beautiful boy was reaching out to say hello. Thank you for offering this lovely way to honor a loved one.

The receiver absolutely loved it. It was a memorial to honor the passing of her mother. The only issue was the FedEx delivery. I had no idea if it was delivered to the right place due to the delivery picture only showing a brick wall and the package. I live in SD and it was sent to a friend in TX so I really had no idea what the brick wall at their home looked like. Please ask Fed Ex to do better. These are expensive gifts.

I bought the large Gardenia for my friend who lost her mother-in-law and she loved it! She said that the presentation was beautiful, it was large and full of blooms. I also purchased the personalized sign and she said that it was also very nice. She was brought to tears by this gift and said it was gorgeous and so special. Seeds of life is a great company that stands by their product!!! We lost our son on 3/21/18. Our daughters teacher sent us this memorial gardenia tree. Our intentions were to see how it did the 1st year & if it did well, we would add his ashes to it. Unfortunately it did not make it through the winter. I contacted customer service & emailed pictures of it just to see if there was anything I could do to bring it back. I wasn’t expecting anything as it had been a year since we received it. Since this was s gift I had I nonreceipt or anything. Without question they immediately sent me out a replacement!! So far this new one has flourished beautifully & is still doing amazing. It brings me such joy to tend to it in honor of our son! Through my support group I have made some friends who are part of my dreaded “club”. My friend’s daughter’s 1st heavenly birthday is coming & I am going to send her a memorial tree. So thank you seeds of life you helping me to keep my sons memory alive!! 💙
